The Mayor Enrico Trantino has ordered the precautionary closure for today, Monday, March 9, of the Via Plaia complex of the Dusmet Doria Comprehensive Institute following the fire that broke out on Thursday evening, March 6, in an abandoned warehouse located near the school building.

The fire, reported by the Firefighters late Thursday evening and continuing for several hours, affected a disused structure near the school. As a precaution, the technical staff of ARPA Sicilia has installed a high-volume sampler in the surrounding areas to collect particulate matter present in the air and determine any dioxins, with checks lasting 24 hours.

While awaiting the results of the environmental analyses, the Municipal Administration has decided to implement a temporary closure of the school complex to protect the health of students and staff. This measure, adopted in coordination with the Prefecture and all relevant authorities regarding civil protection and safety, will end at 12:00 AM today.
