The Regional Civil Protection Department has issued a new weather alert warning the entire island for hydrogeological and hydraulic risk. The forecasts, valid from 4 PM today until midnight tomorrow, Tuesday, March 10, indicate a worsening of weather conditions with a shift to a yellow alert for almost the entire regional territory, confirming a phase of particular attention for the central-western and Tyrrhenian sectors.

The province of Palermo is among the most affected areas by the bulletin, fully falling within the B and E zones, where scattered precipitation is expected, including showers or thunderstorms. The phenomena, although localized, could present moderate intensity, accompanied by strong winds from the eastern quadrants, especially along the southern slopes. Authorities also report that the seas, particularly the Strait of Sicily and the southern Ionian Sea, will be very rough, necessitating additional precautions for coastal activities.

A specific point of attention concerns the management of water basins in the Palermo area. The Civil Protection notice indicates that controlled release operations from the Prizzi Dam to the Verdura basin are underway or scheduled. These maneuvers, necessary for managing the volumes of the reservoir, could cause localized flooding along the course of the Raia stream and in the downstream areas. For this reason, maximum caution is recommended for residents and anyone passing near the riverbeds affected by the releases.
