Six hooded criminals acted, arriving in an Iveco truck, owned by a company from Vittoria, carrying a small excavator, a car, and an SUV.

The heavy vehicle was reportedly stolen in the previous hours.

The Carabinieri of the Licata Company have reconstructed the nighttime assault on the jewelry store "La Cagnina" along the central Corso Umberto.

Using the excavator, the gang broke through the entrance shutter and the armored door of the commercial establishment to steal the valuables inside.

As soon as a gap was created, the thieves entered the premises, managing to grab the contents of some display cases, but before they could operate on the safe, they turned back, fleeing at the sight of an Arma patrol arriving at the scene.

Those who acted, possibly individuals from outside Licata, had prepared a well-thought-out plan. The thieves had also blocked access to Corso Umberto from piazza Progresso by placing an orange construction net, effectively closing and barricading the entrance road.

The military personnel, after an initial inspection, launched a real manhunt. The entire Licata area was thoroughly searched. However, no trace of the thieves was found. At least for the moment. The truck and the excavator were seized, abandoned at the scene.

Throughout the day, the Carabinieri reviewed the surveillance cameras of Corso Umberto and the surrounding areas, some of which captured the criminal action and the escape route of the criminals.
