Administrative Elections Agrigento: PD and M5S choose Michele Sodano, but there is chaos in the local group

The agreement has been officially announced between Democratic Party, Five Star Movement, Italia Viva, Socialists, and AVS to support the candidacy of Michele Sodano, former Five Star deputy and proposed candidate of Controcorrente for the 2026 local elections. Although the agreement aims to preserve the unity of the progressive coalition at the regional level, the operation is not without internal friction. Several representatives of the Democrats and the Five Stars themselves have expressed dissatisfaction, perceiving the choice as a top-down decision rather than the result of a shared process. In particular, the territorial group of the Five Star Movement in Agrigento has distanced itself, emphasizing that the name of Sodano had never emerged during the previous discussion tables of the Progressive Area. The local base would have preferred to focus on Nuccio Dispenza, former spokesperson of the coalition, reiterating that a proposal linked to a single political formation risks undermining the method of collective participation that has been followed so far.
