Minacciava l'ex amante e il marito di lei con bastone e coltello: arrestato
Il 56enne è stato arrestato per stalking: disposti anche il divieto di avvicinamento e braccialetto elettronico
The State Police arrested a 56-year-old, a repeat offender originally from Gravina di Catania, believed to be responsible for a series of harassing behaviors against his ex-lover and her husband.
The most recent incident occurred in the Librino neighborhood, where the man allegedly showed up outside the couple's home and intimidated them as they returned home late at night.
According to the account, he approached them armed with a stick and, after the couple managed to escape, got back into his car attempting to run them over.
Fearing for their safety, the two contacted the Operations Room of the Catania Police Headquarters.
After confirming the victims' safety, a patrol from the Flying Squad was immediately sent to the scene.
Within moments, the officers reached the area of the residence and identified the man in a vehicle.
Inside the car, a switchblade knife and a bat about one meter long were found, the latter of which the fifty-six-year-old had allegedly used moments earlier to threaten the woman and her spouse.
Meanwhile, the police reassured the victims and gathered all useful information to reconstruct the events.
According to the woman's account, the suspect had never accepted the end of their extramarital affair, which had ended some time ago, and had bombarded her with calls and messages in an attempt to rekindle the relationship.
Despite her clear rejection, the man had followed her on multiple occasions to her workplace, lying in wait to intercept her as she left her shift and try to talk to her.
For some time, he had also targeted her husband with a series of anonymous calls, claiming to possess intimate photos of the woman that he would distribute.
Officers from the General Prevention and Public Rescue Office therefore arrested the 56-year-old in the act for harassment, also charging him with unjustified possession of objects intended to harm, while maintaining the presumption of innocence of the suspect until a possible final judgment.
At the request of the public prosecutor on duty, the man has been placed under house arrest pending the validation hearing.
The judge subsequently validated the arrest and imposed the precautionary measure of prohibition of approach, with monitoring via electronic bracelet.
