Raid at the waste storage facility: illegal management and fire safety regulations violated, the manager reported
Protection of the territory in Aragona: task force of Carabinieri and ARPA in action
A "out of control" waste management system, lacking the basic certifications for public safety and environmental protection. This is what emerged from the latest operation by the Carabinieri of the Aragona Station, who, as part of a detailed inspection activity, scrutinized a facility operating in the sensitive sector of waste disposal and storage.
The Task Force in Action
The operation did not go unnoticed. Given the complexity of the matter, the military personnel acted with the specialized support of their colleagues from the Nature Anti-Crime Center in Agrigento. Alongside them, for technical assessments, inspectors from ARPA Sicilia (Regional Agency for Environmental Protection) and teams from the Fire Brigade of the Provincial Command of Agrigento intervened.
A necessary deployment of forces to comb through records, authorizations, and verify on-site the integrity of safety systems at a site potentially hazardous to the local ecosystem.
The Accusations: A "Ghost" Facility for Safety
The outcome of the inspection led to the reporting in a state of freedom of the sole administrator of the company to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Agrigento. The irregularities found by the investigators are twofold and extremely serious:
Violation of fire safety regulations: The facility was found to be without the SCIA (Certified Notification of Start of Activity), the fundamental document that certifies compliance with fire prevention criteria, making the site a potential risk for workers and the surrounding area.
Lack of environmental authorizations: The waste management activity was reportedly carried out without the necessary authorizations required by current regulations (Consolidated Environmental Act).
Protection of the Territory and Presumption of Innocence
The intervention is part of a broader strategy to combat environmental crimes promoted by the Carabinieri, aimed at curbing illegal waste management, a scourge that often fuels underground economic circuits and soil degradation.
