Calabria, state of emergency for an entire year: the Government's plan for Catanzaro and Cosenza

The Government has declared the state of emergency for Calabria following the wave of bad weather that, between February 11 and 20 of last year, severely affected the provinces of Catanzaro and Cosenza. The measure, which will last for twelve months, was adopted in response to the proposal made by Nello Musumeci, Minister for Civil Protection and Maritime Policies. To address the immediate needs and the damage caused by the exceptional weather events, the executive has allocated a total of 15 million euros from the National Emergency Fund.

The allocated resources are primarily intended for the implementation of rescue and assistance interventions for the affected population, as well as for the restoration of the functionality of public services and damaged infrastructure. As specified by Minister Musumeci, the operational management of the crisis and the use of funds will proceed through specific ordinances signed by the Head of the Department of Civil Protection, acting in constant agreement with the Calabria Region to ensure a coordinated response on the ground.
