Lentini, new motion of no confidence against Mayor Lo Faro: decisive vote in the Chamber on Monday
The City Council is once again addressing the future of the administration. Following the rejection in February, nine councilors have signed a new document that denounces administrative paralysis, financial crisis, and overdue salaries.
A new motion of no confidence in the mayor of Lentini, Rosario Lo Faro will be voted on next Monday in the City Council. The document signed by the nine councilors Rossella Consiglio (FdI), Diletta Pericone (FI), Giuseppe Vasta, Silvana Bosco Santocono, and Francesca Reale of Grande Sicilia, Maria Cunsolo (M5S), Ciro Greco (Pd), Luigi Campisi (L’altra Lentini), Antonino Landro (Sinistra Futura), reiterates the political and administrative criticisms already raised and aggravated by further episodes that - according to the proponents - would demonstrate the impossibility of continuing the administrative action under the current conditions.
The rumors circulating insistently in political circles suggest that the approval is certain. A very delicate political passage that comes just a few weeks after the rejection of the first motion, which was dismissed by the chamber last February 18 amid controversies and absences that had sparked much debate. The latest document fits into an increasingly tense political climate because, according to the protagonists of local political life, a potential second rejection would risk marking a point of no return for the credibility of local politics. Many openly argue that another defeat of the no-confidence motion would be perceived by public opinion as the triumphant failure of Lentini's politics, unable to fully take responsibility for its choices.
Meanwhile, Mayor Rosario Lo Faro continues to intervene in the political debate with statements related to specific responsibilities and dynamics that have developed in recent weeks both inside and outside the City Council. However, it is still unclear why, despite referring to certain political balances, the mayor systematically avoids explicitly mentioning the name of Deputy Giuseppe Carta, to whom many observers link those same dynamics.
At the center of the accusations contained in the new motion is "the loss of the majority after the exit of the Grande Sicilia group that refers to Deputy Carta, a Council considered unrepresentative, and a situation of paralysis of the entity".
Among the many problems listed are financial difficulties, unpaid salaries to employees, protests from ecological operators, foreclosures.
