A day entirely dedicated to prevention and health promotion took place on Tuesday at the Municipality of Vittoria, where the Provincial Health Authority of Ragusa held an informational meeting on free cancer screenings, aimed at all municipal staff.

The initiative aimed to raise awareness among employees about the importance of early diagnosis and to encourage participation in the prevention programs provided at no cost by the Health Service.

During the meeting, three screening pathways were presented: mammography; gynecological tests, including Pap tests and HPV tests; and colorectal screening.

The latter, also intended for men aged 50 to 69, involves the search for occult blood in the stool, a crucial examination for the timely identification of possible diseases.

Participating in the meeting were the head of the department of the Asp of Ragusa, Giuseppe Smecca, the medical director, Sara Lanza, and the physician responsible for screenings, Iole Trabia, who illustrated the objectives, access methods, and benefits of the preventive programs.

The event, aimed at the entire audience of municipal employees, sought to promote a broader culture of prevention and encourage regular periodic check-ups.

Bringing greetings from the Administration was the councilor for Health Policies, Francesca Corbino, who highlighted the value of collaboration between institutions and the health system in promoting healthy lifestyles and supporting active participation in screening programs.

“The meeting – said Mayor Francesco Aiello – represents another step in the awareness-raising journey on prevention, a fundamental tool for protecting the health of citizens.”
