Landslide of Niscemi, the Prosecutor's Office of Gela acquires documents and hears Barberi and Civil Protection officials
Ordinances acquired since 1997; interrogations to reconstruct interventions and funds never spent
The Prosecutor's Office of Gela, which has opened a file for negligent disaster, still against unknown persons, after the landslide that brought Niscemi to its knees, has heard preliminary information, at the headquarters of the Sco in Rome, from the former undersecretary to the presidency of the Council with responsibility for Civil Protection Franco Barberi, who dealt with the first landslide that affected the area in 1997, and the directors of the national Civil Protection Filippo Cadamuro and Letteria Spuria.
The prosecutor Salvatore Vella, with the prosecutor delegated to the investigation Maddalena Guglielmino, the officers of the Mobile Unit of Gela, and two of the three consultants appointed by the investigating office, have acquired a series of documents in the possession of the national Civil Protection: ordinances, communications, and prescriptions issued since 1997.
The magistrates are trying to reconstruct, among other things, all the interventions made for the safety of the area and the funds allocated but never spent.
