The violent city
Catania, shooting in Librino: nineteen-year-old injured in a calf
The young man presented himself independently at the San Marco hospital: the mobile squad is investigating
The report arrived in the late afternoon at the operations room of the police headquarters and immediately triggered the investigators from the flying squad and, shortly after, from the mobile squad. However, at the indicated location, 10 Bummacaro Avenue, a historic drug dealing square in the neighborhood, the police found no people, only shell casings.
There was, however, one injured person. This is a nineteen-year-old, whose full identity we do not disclose, who shortly after the shooting presented himself to the emergency room of San Marco Hospital, reporting that he had been hit by a stray bullet while in the area. Obviously, his account is under review by the law enforcement agencies, which are trying to understand what actually happened on Bummacaro Avenue.
What occurred follows other similar incidents. Last February, a 48-year-old man was shot in the legs by a rifle fired by a neighbor, who was later arrested, in Villaggio Dusmet; additionally, a 23-year-old was injured on Capo Passero Street, in Trappeto Nord, possibly during a dispute related to the drug world. Given the location of last night's shooting, it cannot be ruled out that this latest violent incident is also connected to issues related to drugs.
