Cinese Building in decline, M5s on the attack: "With potholes and crumbling walls, it is a danger, the Region should intervene instead of the Municipality"
The note and the announcement of an inquiry at the Ars
Degradation in the area of the Favorita Park leading to the Palazzina Cinese: the ones denouncing it are regional deputy Roberta Schillaci and councilor of the VI district of Palermo Giacomo Cuticchio. In addition to the degradation of the asphalt, the two also point out the information boards placed in front of the cultural site, which would be illegible and uprooted.
“We could have never imagined - the two political representatives write in a note - that such an important place would be reduced to these conditions. It should be remembered that the Palazzina Cinese is an ancient Bourbon royal residence, recognized as a property of extremely high historical-artistic value and a significant destination for cultural tourism at the local, national, and international levels, and it has been the subject of important restoration interventions in order to restore the monument to its ancient splendor.
“Today - the note continues - the access connecting the entrance from piazza Niscemi to the Palazzina Cinese is characterized by potholes, depressions, and damage that pose a potential danger to the safety of pedestrians and cyclists. Furthermore, in the section of the fence facing via Duca degli Abruzzi, there has been a collapse of a portion of the wall, with pieces of stone falling onto the sidewalk and consequently harming the regular pedestrian transit, an issue already raised in public complaints by civic committees and institutional representatives.
“In light of the inaction of the Municipality of Palermo - they conclude - it is desirable for the regional administration to intervene. For this reason, the Five Star Movement has submitted a parliamentary inquiry to the Ars addressed to the president of the Region and the assessors for Cultural Heritage and for Territory and Environment.
