Attacked an elderly woman to steal her necklace: 47-year-old arrested and transferred to prison

On behalf of the District Attorney's Office of Catania, the State Police executed a preventive custody order issued by the GIP of the Etna Court against a 47-year-old man.

According to the accusatory reconstruction, currently deemed credible by the judge based on the circumstantial evidence collected, the suspect is charged with aggravated robbery.

The precautionary measure concerns an incident that occurred in May of last year on Postumia Street against an 83-year-old woman.

According to what investigators hypothesized, during the act, the man allegedly violently pulled the elderly woman, causing her to fall to the ground and sustaining injuries, before snatching a necklace from her.

The investigations by the Mobile Squad, Falcon Section, conducted through the analysis of numerous surveillance systems and a detailed reconstruction of the suspect's movements, outlined a serious evidentiary framework, justifying the request and subsequent issuance of the restrictive measure.

After completing the formalities, the suspect was transferred to the Piazza Lanza Detention Center.
